Stephen Morton, CFA - Chief Investment Officer, developed the Inyo approach based on extensive trading and investment management experience, coupled with his passion for modern portfolio theory and an insistence on liquid, transparent investments. Steve built the foundations of the Inyo strategy as a market maker and proprietary trader, honed the methodology in the late 1990s, and has applied the investment process from January 2000. He began his career at Salomon Brothers, led investment businesses at top financial institutions including Blackstone and BNP, and launched Natixis’ absolute return business in 2008. Steve earned his MBA from UCLA, is a Fulbright Fellowship recipient, and graduated with honors from UC Santa Cruz.
Wei Peng, CFA - Portfolio Manager and Head of Quantitative Research, is a financial professional with a strong absolute return revenue-generating orientation. A colleague of Steve’s while at Natixis, Wei has broad experience in quantitative research and development of fixed income and equity models and tools, including cross-market analytics, multi-factor analysis, and correlation and volatility models. Wei was instrumental in developing many of the tools that continue to be integral to Inyo’s investment process today. Wei has created and implemented models and tools used for proprietary trading at premiere institutions such as HSBC, JP Morgan Chase, Susquehanna International Group, and Scotiabank. Wei graduated from Peking University at the age of 18 and earned a Ph.D. from Rice University.
Daisy Tom, CPA - Chief Operating and Financial Officer, is a uniquely qualified finance executive with more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, bringing a full suite of skills to Inyo’s management team. She most recently served as the CFO of Lady M Confections, a rapidly growing international chain of exclusive pastries. Prior to joining Lady M, Daisy was a senior financial officer at the asset management firms of Lord Abbett, Jennison Associates, and Tudor Investments. Daisy began her career at Ernst & Young, where she was a senior auditor. She is a certified public accountant, graduated cum laude and received a BS in accounting and finance from NYU’s Stern School of Business, and most recently earned her MBA from MIT’s Sloan School of Management in June 2016.
